The authorities have made significant progress in the investigation of the honey trap case involving the well-known writer Khalilur Rehman Qamar.
The alleged mastermind of the honey trap gang, Hasan Shah, was arrested along with his accomplices in Peshawar.
According to police reports, Hasan Shah, the central figure of the honey trap gang, was arrested along with his accomplice Rafiq in Peshawar. Police revealed that Hasan Shah is also a drug addict and was found in possession of opium at the time of his arrest. Shah is said to be the mastermind behind the honey trap scheme that targeted Qamar.
Police said Hasan Shah is the main figure in the 12-member group, including women. They alleged that the suspect forced the writer to record the objectionable video and then published it.
The suspect told the police that Khalilur Rehman Qamar had visited the house of the female suspect with improper intentions and not to discuss the script as he claimed. Further complicating the situation, Shah claimed that Qamar was forced to claim kidnapping due to the presence of his videos.
The police have recorded the statements of the suspects and are conducting further investigations. Earlier, 12 people, including women, were arrested for their involvement in the incident.
Meanwhile, one of the arrested suspects, Amna Urooj, is due to be produced before an anti-terrorism court after four days of physical custody. Justice Arshad Javed of ATC will oversee the proceedings of the case. Police are expected to file a comprehensive report on the investigation so far.
A case has been officially registered at the Sunder police station and authorities are continuing their efforts to uncover the full extent of the gang’s operations and bring all those involved to justice.
