Students Counseling and Youth Development Center organized a grand ceremony at the University of Agriculture Peshawar to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day. The Vice Chancellor of the University of Agriculture Peshawar, Prof. Emeritus Dr. Jehan Bakht.
Director Administration Dr. Shoaib Sultan, Director Youth Development Center Dr. Anwar Ali Shad, Chairman Department of Human Nutrition Dr. Ziauddin, Chairman Department of Agricultural Chemistry and Biochemistry Dr. Sahib Alam, Assistant Director Dr. Humira Wasila, Dr. Saima Sarir, Dr. Maria Munir, faculty members, administrative officers, staff and a large number of students attended the ceremony.
Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof. Emeritus Dr. Jehan Bakht said that Kashmir Day is observed by people throughout Pakistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK). It is an internationally recognized day observed by people, predominantly Kashmiris, worldwide. The day is marked by public processions, special prayers in mosques for the liberation of Kashmir and protests that are carried out against the Indian oppression of Kashmir. He said that Indian atrocities in Kashmir cannot suppress the Kashmiri people’s spirit of self-determination. We stand with the Kashmiri people and India’s illegal occupation of Kashmir is a violation of human rights. He said that the government is presenting its position on Kashmir in the best possible way at the international level and has raised its voice against the human rights violations being committed by the Indian army in Kashmir. He said that the United Nations and Islamic countries should take notice of Indian atrocities on the Kashmiri people and give Kashmiris their rights. He said that at this time, there is a need of unity. We should work day and night for national development and prosperity. He said that our brothers and sisters in Kashmir have been facing Indian oppression for many years. The international community should play its role and stop the inhumane acts against innocent children, youth, elderly and women by the Indian army in Kashmir. The darkness of oppression will end and by the grace of Allah Almighty, the sun of freedom will rise in Kashmir soon. Let us renew this pledge today that we all have to take the beloved homeland to a higher level of development, prosperity and success.

At the end of the ceremony, a walk was taken out under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Emeritus Dr. Jahan Bakht to express solidarity with the Kashmiris and a special prayer was organized for the freedom of Kashmir.
