KAMALIA: The district administration has stepped up preparedness measures following concerns over a possible flood situation along the Ravi River, with Assistant Commissioner Kamalia Iram Shehzadi conducting an emergency visit to vulnerable riverine settlements.
The assistant commissioner inspected several flood-prone areas, including 58/3 Tukra, Kamharanwali Basti, Chak No. 731-GB, Khan Da Chak, Khokranwali Abadi, Jhalar Siglan, Mill Fatehiana, Chak No. 736-GB and adjoining localities to assess preparedness and review precautionary arrangements.
During the visit, she met local residents and advised them to remain vigilant, follow official safety instructions, and relocate to safer locations promptly if flood conditions worsen. She also urged the public to cooperate fully with the district administration during any emergency.
The Assistant Commissioner directed all relevant departments to remain on high alert and ensure immediate response in the event of any flood-related emergency.
She also inspected the flood relief camp, reviewing the availability of essential supplies, including medicines, clean drinking water, food, tents and other emergency facilities. Officials were instructed to keep all relief arrangements fully operational to provide timely assistance to affected communities if required.
The district administration reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging residents living near the Ravi River to stay informed through official advisories and avoid unnecessary movement in vulnerable areas during the ongoing monsoon season.
