ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Information and Broadcasting Minister Murtaza Solangi has said that action will be taken against those involved in the recent malicious campaign against Supreme Court judges in accordance with the law and the constitution.
Addressing a press conference today along with PTA and FIA officials in Islamabad, he said that the Interior Ministry had informed a joint investigation team on the 16th of this month to investigate the matter.
He said the FIA, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority and other relevant departments are continuing their investigation and several hundred social media accounts are being monitored.
The Information Minister has warned agencies inside and outside the country to refrain from such activities.
PTA Director General Ahmad Shamim Pirzada said in his remarks that they have the power to block and remove content.
FIA Chief Operating Officer Waqar Uddin Syed said they are on full alert and immediate action will be ensured against those involved in the malicious campaign against the state and its institutions.
He said we are in the process of identifying the social media accounts behind the recent campaign against Supreme Court judges. He said no one would be allowed to undermine people’s trust in state institutions.

Meanwhile, at an event in Islamabad on Monday, Murtaza Solangi said there should be no doubt about the conduct of the general elections on the 8th of next month.
He emphasized that the people will exercise their right to vote as envisaged by the constitution.
He deplored the unwarranted doubts being raised about the electoral process, stressing that the preamble of the constitution clearly states that the country will be governed by elected representatives.
The information minister said there should be a discussion on major issues facing the country, including those related to the economy, foreign policy, population explosion, health and education. He expressed confidence that we will proceed to solve these problems.
