ISLAMABAD, July 2: Islamabad Model College for Girls Tarlai concluded its Summer School & Fiesta 2026 with a colourful ceremony after 1,650 students completed two weeks of free skill-based learning activities.
The programme was held under the Federal Directorate of Education’s Summer Fiesta 2026 initiative, aimed at giving students productive learning opportunities during summer vacations. The initiative focused on creativity, communication skills, digital learning and practical training for female students from the rural areas of the federal capital.
Dr. Khalid Mahmood, Area Education Officer Nilore, attended the closing ceremony as chief guest. Principal IMCG Tarlai Mrs. Kausar Parveen welcomed the guests, faculty members, parents, School Management Committee members and principals from other institutions of the Nilore sector.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Khalid Mahmood appreciated the college administration and teachers for successfully organizing the programme. He said the Summer School & Fiesta helped students develop confidence, improve practical abilities and make meaningful use of the summer break.
According to the college administration, students took part in 12 specialized courses, including Spoken English, Canva and Digital Marketing, Sketching and Canvas Painting, Creative Mehndi and Nail Art, Crochet Work, Hand Embroidery, Culinary Arts, Calligraphy, Qirat and Tajweed.
All courses were offered free of cost, allowing students from different backgrounds to benefit from training in academic, creative and vocational skills.

Senior officials of the Federal Directorate of Education also visited IMCG Tarlai during the two-week programme and reviewed the activities. They included Dr. Ehsan Mehmood, Director Schools FDE; Ms. Riffat Jabeen, Director Academics FDE; Dr. Fasiha Fayyaz, Deputy Director FDE; and Muhammad Riaz, AEO Sihala.
The visiting officials interacted with students and teachers and praised the college for providing quality learning opportunities through the Summer Fiesta.
Principal Mrs. Kausar Parveen said the programme was planned to help students learn beyond the classroom and explore their creative and practical potential. She appreciated the dedication of resource persons, teachers and students in making the initiative successful.
Vice Principal and Summer Fiesta Supervisor Mrs. Saima Shaheen said the strong participation in the Spoken English course showed students’ growing interest in communication skills. She said the course was designed to build confidence through interactive learning.
Parents and members of the School Management Committee also appreciated the initiative, saying that free access to such courses helped promote inclusive learning and skill development.
The closing ceremony included exhibitions, live demonstrations and presentations by students, showcasing the skills they learned during the programme.
Dr. Khalid Mahmood distributed certificates among students and resource persons in recognition of their participation and contribution.
