Once an elderly couple who has no children lived in a house. The 70-year-old woman while going to bed said to her 78-year-old husband:
“Listen… I think the light of garage is on and will you get up and turn it off?”
The elderly man got out of bed with great difficulty, opened the door and went out. As he came out, he observed five burglars engaged in tampering the door of garage. He dialed the contact number of nearby police station and told the attendant of call:
“Please note address of my residence. We are only old husband and wife at home and five six thieves have attacked my garage. Send a police team quickly…”
Responding to the call, the dispatcher’s replied:
“We have noted address of your house. Don’t worry. No team is ready yet. As soon as I get in touch with a team, I will send it immediately.”
The elderly man got furious over the said reply. He noticed that the thieves were still busy in tangling the locks of garage.
After passage of two minutes he got an idea and he called the police station again:
“Listen… there’s no need to send anyone now. I shot dead all five burglars.”
There was a commotion in the police station. Within five minutes, a police team riding police van appeared in the street with a paramedic, three doctors and two ambulances. The criminals were soon brought under control.
Later, incharge of the police team came to the elderly man and in violent mood asked him:
“While you told a lie that you have gunned down the robbers.”
The elderly person with smile on his face said:
“What other option I was left with after response that police have said that no team is ready to help me.”
