Heavy Rain Disrupts Traffic in Rawalpindi as Traffic Police Intensify Field Operations

RAWALPINDI: Torrential rain in Rawalpindi temporarily disrupted traffic flow on several major roads, underpasses and low-lying areas, prompting the City Traffic Police to deploy additional personnel and strengthen traffic management operations across the city.

Chief Traffic Officer Farhan Aslam, along with senior officers and traffic wardens, remained active in the field to facilitate motorists and maintain the smooth flow of traffic during the heavy downpour.

Additional traffic personnel were deployed at key roads, underpasses and vulnerable low-lying locations, while lifters continued patrolling to respond to vehicles that might become stranded or break down during the rainfall.

According to the CTO, accumulated rainwater on several roads caused temporary disruption to traffic movement. However, traffic flow on a number of affected routes was subsequently restored to normal.

Meanwhile, WASA and other relevant departments were engaged in draining accumulated rainwater from low-lying roads and vulnerable locations.

Traffic wardens were also assisting citizens during the rainfall and helping manage congestion at affected points.

CTO Farhan Aslam urged motorists to exercise extra caution while driving in rainy conditions and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead.

He also advised citizens to exercise particular care while passing through waterlogged roads and avoid unnecessary risks during heavy rainfall.

“Even a small precaution can help save valuable time and precious lives,” the CTO said, urging motorists to cooperate with traffic personnel and follow safety instructions.

The Rawalpindi Traffic Police said field operations would continue as long as the rain persists, with officers monitoring major roads and vulnerable locations to minimise traffic disruption and ensure public safety.
