Catherine, Princess of Wales, spent her third day in the hospital on Thursday after surgery, while King Charles III was scheduled for prostate surgery, resulting in a royal frontline manpower shortage.
The 42-year-old princess, often known as Kate, faces up to two weeks in the hospital and possibly months of recovery after “successful abdominal surgery,” Kensington Palace announced on Wednesday.
Charles, 75, who succeeded his mother Queen Elizabeth II after her death in September 2022, will undergo a “corrective procedure” for a benign enlarged prostate next week, Buckingham Palace announced.
Kate’s husband, Prince William, the heir to the throne, has cancelled upcoming public appearances to be by her side at a private London clinic and to care for their three children, according to media reports.
