SWAT: Hashoo Foundation, with support from UNDP Pakistan, has conducted a school-based disaster preparedness and safety session at Government Girls Primary School Kabal, Union Council Mingora, Swat.
The activity was held under the Social Action Project, “School-Based Disaster Preparedness and Safety Programme,” as part of the broader initiative “Empowering Women for Peace and Environmental Justice in Swat.”
Project-trained Emergency and Humanitarian Response Delegates (EHRDs) Jalal Shah, Abdullah, Hafsa Khan and Iqra Khan led the session, engaging students and teachers on disaster preparedness, safety measures and emergency response.
Representatives of KP Rescue 1122, Medical Technicians Ihsan and Maria, also took part in the activity. They provided practical guidance to teachers on first aid for children during emergencies and immediate safety measures to reduce risks and protect lives during disasters.
Students and teachers actively participated in the session, making it an engaging and practical learning experience. The activity aimed to strengthen awareness and preparedness among school communities so they can respond more effectively during emergencies.
Hashoo Foundation acknowledged the support and collaboration of the KP Elementary and Secondary Education Department and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It also appreciated District Education Officer Female Swat Dilshad Begum and school Principal Tabasum for facilitating the activity.
The foundation further thanked KP Rescue 1122 and its representatives for sharing practical first-aid and emergency response knowledge with teachers and students.
The initiative was supported by the Forestry, Environment and Wildlife Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Environmental Protection Agency Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and UNDP Pakistan, under the leadership of Sadia Bangash.
