Govt crackdown nets billions from electricity thieves

Recent developments show that the efforts of the government and the country to revive the economy and combat the power crisis have paid off.

An estimated $84 billion has been recovered across the country in electricity theft cases, with more than 62,000 people arrested for the crime.

Between March 24 and March 31, authorities in major cities including Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, and Islamabad collected $1.05 billion from electricity theft. Additionally, $0.599 billion was received from Peshawar, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Quetta and other other areas.

In addition, 241 people were arrested in connection with electricity theft throughout the country during this period.

The concerned organization has decided to continue this operation until the total elimination of electricity theft in the entire country.
