Pakistani goods transporters across the country went on a wheel-jamming strike, bringing major commercial centers such as Akbari Mandi and Badami Bagh in Lahore to a complete standstill.
Booking of goods has been halted, raising concerns about the supply of essential commodities including vegetables, fruits and pulses.
Strike Demands
The Association of Freight Forwarders, led by Sadr, demands the immediate cancellation of increased toll taxes.
Tariq Nabil, a key leader of the association, is advocating the nationwide introduction of a standardized Excel weighting system.
Nabil also called for barriers to be placed on entry and exit routes of each city to prevent highway robberies and ensure safer transportation of goods.
