MANSEHRA: The Siren Forest Division has seized a truck loaded with illegally transported pine timber during a successful intelligence-based operation under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s ongoing anti-timber smuggling campaign.
The operation was carried out on the directions of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and the Chief Secretary, under the supervision of Chief Conservator of Forests Hazara Region Muhammad Asghar Khan, Conservator Lower Hazara Hayat Ali, and DFO Siren Forest Division Amanullah Khan. The field team, led by SDFO Mansehra Tahir Ayub, conducted the raid with the support of the local police.
During the operation, officials intercepted a truck carrying illegally cut pine timber and took both the vehicle and the timber into the custody of the Forest Department.
Legal action has been initiated against those involved under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Forest Ordinance, 2002, while further investigations are underway to identify and dismantle the wider timber smuggling network.
The Siren Forest Division said it is following a zero-tolerance policy against illegal logging and timber smuggling. The department added that intelligence-based operations, night patrols, and strict legal action will continue to protect the province’s forest resources.
