The first virtual reality courses in Pakistan have started at the University of Information Technology in Lahore.
The University of Information Technology is the first university in Pakistan to provide meta-learning and will now provide students who attend online courses with the same sense of participation as in a conventional learning environment.
Students and teachers can be in any city or country, just put on a virtual reality headset and they will arrive in the classroom. A projector and blackboard will be available for teachers.
Along with the students’ questions and answers, their movements can also be felt in the metaverse. Students say that the virtual classroom is so close to reality that it is easier to understand the curriculum.
Head of the Department of Computer Science, Ibrahim Ghaznavi, says that with this energy-saving initiative, students’ academic ability will also improve.
He said that when the online courses started after Covid-19, it was necessary to improve the facilities because the students did not understand the online courses and the classroom was not close to reality. As part of the pilot project, the university signed a contract with a Danish university.
The IT industry is of the opinion that if the lawmakers pass laws for modern technology and use it to promote education, then the world will recognize Pakistan’s importance in this field sooner.
