Faysal Qureshi, known for playing notable roles on Pakistani television, an actor, producer and host of his own Ramadan broadcasts, has had no shortage of mishaps in his life. In an interview with host Nadia Khan on her show Life Green Hai, star Bashar Momin recalled his near-fatal car accident in November 2021 after a flat tire.
“I already recited the kalma,” Faysal said, recalling the crash that reduced his Honda Civic to the size of an Alto. “If I wasn’t strapped in, I would have gone through the car. Amid billowing smoke, bystanders pulled Faysal from the wreckage, causing a fractured cervix. Faysal added with a laugh that even in such a dejected state, someone managed to ask him what drama he was filming.
Following a strict routine and balanced diet to stay in shape and staying cheerful in the face of adversity is a condition Faysal has worked on for years, a trait he attributes to his deep faith. “People ask me why I’m always so happy in Ramazan,” the actor remarked. “I tell them it is a month of bonuses from Allah. Wouldn’t you be happy if you got a bonus at work?”
Faysal, a father himself, urged Muslims to be more tolerant during the fast and lamented how irritability can have toxic consequences for the next generation. “You have to be a good role model for your children,” he urged. “If a child always has to walk in shells around stressed fasting parents, what kind of example are you setting for them? If your children see that you are actively trying to be tolerant, they will be happy and want to fast. Fasting is to restore your body and teach you tolerance.”
