The Special Communications Organization (SCO) has inaugurated several IT parks in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. This initiative aims to empower the youth of these regions and bring about a digital revolution in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.
The objective of these IT parks is to transform these areas into IT-equipped regions. According to details, 61 IT parks and freelancing hubs have been established in both regions in a record time of 16 months. The technology parks aim to provide local communities and administrations with an eco-friendly system, while the freelancing hubs are designed to empower the youth by enhancing their skills and offering them opportunities for success.
As part of the project to establish 50 software technology parks and freelancing hubs in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, this marks the 21st project of SCO. These IT parks alone have created 6,500 jobs and empowered 1,600 freelancers. Each IT park is equipped with high-speed internet and uninterrupted power supply, and the organization is also providing independent living centers for disabled children, where they are learning valuable skills.
Additionally, SCO has set up freelancing hubs for women where they are working in a safe environment. SCO plans to establish 100 IT setups in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, and this vision, in line with the 2025 roadmap, is set to pave the way for transforming the region into an IT hub.
