An event was held today at the Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi to screen a documentary film about the late Mr. Jamiluddin Aali, a great poet, writer, essayist, dramatist and educationist of the sub-continent. Mr. Zulqarnain Jamil Aali, son of late Jamiluddin Aali, was also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi paid tribute to Jamiluddin Aali’s long struggle and his contribution to national unity, women’s equality, development of Urdu literature and culture of tolerance. He recalled Aali Sahib’s column in a Pakistani newspaper which focused on political, cultural and socio-economic aspects. Jeeway Jeeway Pakistan written by Jamiluddin Aali, Milli Nagman has become a symbol of Pakistan’s recognition in the world. The Ambassador also highlighted Mr. Zulkarnain Aali’s role in the development of the UAE during his 15-year tenure as a member of the UBL Group from the 1980s to the 1990s.
Mr. Zulqarnain Jamil Aali also spoke on the occasion and narrated various aspects of his father’s life, including his struggle after migration. He highlighted the role of the great poet of Pakistan as a father, a husband, and above all a loyal citizen.
Documentary films are also shown, showing different aspects of the life of our great poet.
The event was attended by close family members of Jamiluddin Aali, prominent members of Pakistani society and embassy officials.
