Recently, a man won the global title in Scrabble despite not knowing the Spanish language.
57-year-old New Zealand Scrabble player Nigel Richards, who was unfamiliar with the Spanish language, won the 2024 Spanish-language Scrabble World Championship by playing in Spanish.
Mr. Richards first made headlines nearly a decade ago when he won the 2015 French-language Scrabble Championship, despite being unable to communicate in French. This was a remarkable achievement that gained international news attention.
Nigel was already known as one of the world’s best Scrabble players and earned the nickname “The Tiger Woods of Scrabble.”
However, recently, Nigel repeated this feat and proved that he could also play in other languages he doesn’t speak, winning the world championship title in a language he does not know.
