Michigan, USA: A recent study found that stress or depression conditions are common among caregivers of stroke survivors.
A study published in Neurology found that about 30 percent of stroke caregivers experience stress and emotional problems during the first year after the patient is discharged from the hospital.
Dr. Lewis Morgenstern, professor of neurology, neurosurgery and emergency medicine at Michigan Medical School, said depression, anxiety and stress are especially common among family members who make life and death decisions for their terminally ill loved ones.
