Defence Day Reaffirms Our Resolve, Unity and Commitment to Pakistan: Acting Chairman Senate

Islamabad, September 6, 2026: Acting Chairman Senate Syedal Khan Nasir, in his message on Defence Day, said that September 6 is an unforgettable day in Pakistan’s history, reminding the nation of the supreme sacrifices of its martyrs, the courage of its Ghazis and the unwavering patriotism of the Pakistani nation.
He said that during the 1965 war, the Armed Forces of Pakistan demonstrated exemplary courage, discipline and professional excellence and thwarted the enemy’s designs, while the nation stood united with its armed forces.
Syedal Khan Nasir said that the sacrifices of the martyrs remind the nation that Pakistan’s strength lies in national unity, strong institutions and an unwavering commitment to the country. He stressed that national defence today extends beyond the protection of borders and also encompasses economic stability, supremacy of the Constitution and law, strong democratic institutions, education, science and technology, and social harmony.
The Acting Chairman Senate said Pakistan is a peace-loving country and remains committed to lasting peace in the region; however, there can be no compromise on national security, sovereignty and dignity. He said the entire nation stands united with the Armed Forces of Pakistan.
He also appreciated the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their efforts to ease international tensions and avert the threat of a wider conflict. He said their leadership and diplomatic efforts had earned appreciation across the world.
Paying tribute to the families of the martyrs, Syedal Khan Nasir urged the nation to draw inspiration from their spirit of sacrifice and play its part in building a strong, united, prosperous and dignified Pakistan. He also prayed for peace, stability and prosperity in the country and for the safety of the personnel of the Armed Forces of Pakistan.
