Dubai: The broadcasting company that purchased the broadcasting rights for the Champions Trophy has lost its patience over the delay in the schedule.
According to sources, broadcasters have urged the ICC to release the Champions Trophy schedule immediately.
Sources revealed that the ICC had granted broadcasters media rights for 2027 for a sum of 3 billion dollars, assuring them that Pakistan-India matches would be a key part of the tournament.
However, after India refused to send its team to Pakistan, it seems unlikely that these matches will take place, and broadcasters, who were expecting substantial revenue from Pakistan-India matches, are facing significant losses due to the delay in announcing the schedule.
The broadcasters have reiterated their demand for an immediate release of the tournament’s schedule.
It is noteworthy that India has refused to send its cricket team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, while the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) remains firm on its stance of not accepting a hybrid model for the tournament. This situation has put the ICC in a crisis. The PCB has also started considering the possibility of hosting the event without India.
