In Norway, a seafood company faced an unusual situation when thousands of salmon fish disappeared from a fish farm, prompting them to make an interesting offer to the public.
The company announced that anyone who catches a fugitive fish will receive a reward of $45 (over 12,500 PKR) per fish.
In a statement, the company Mowi revealed that 105,000 fish had escaped from their fish farm into the open waters of northwestern Norway.
The statement further explained that the barriers separating the fish farm from open waters had been damaged due to stormy weather.
The company has now offered a cash reward for anyone across the country who captures one of the escaped fish.
Norwegian authorities stated that typically, companies are allowed to conduct fish recapture operations within 1,640 feet of their fish farms. However, due to the large number of escaped fish, Mowi has been granted permission for a broader-scale operation.
Experts warn that the escaped farmed fish could pose a threat to the region’s wild salmon population.
