ISLAMABAD: Veteran diplomat Ambassador Moin ul Haque has assumed charge as the Director-General of the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI), succeeding Ambassador Sohail Mahmood, who completed his tenure.
Ambassador Moin ul Haque brings nearly 35 years of distinguished diplomatic experience in Pakistan’s Foreign Service, having served in several key positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as at diplomatic missions abroad.
His most recent assignment was as Pakistan’s Ambassador to China (2020–2023). Earlier, he served as Pakistan’s Ambassador to France (2016–2020) and Consul General in Vancouver, Canada (2007–2010).
During his career at the Foreign Office, he held several senior positions, including Additional Secretary (Administration), Chief of Protocol, Director-General (Europe), and Director in the Office of the Foreign Secretary.
Earlier diplomatic assignments also included postings at Pakistan’s embassies in Brussels, Colombo, and Ankara, as well as serving as Counsellor at Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York.
With his extensive experience in diplomacy and strategic policymaking, Ambassador Moin ul Haque is expected to further strengthen ISSI’s role as one of Pakistan’s leading foreign policy and strategic affairs think tanks.
