ISLAMABAD: Under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon, Deputy Commissioner Shalimar conducted a targeted operation against beggars in sectors F-10 and F-7 of Shalimar subdivision on Tuesday.
The operation resulted in the capture of professional beggars who were handed over to the police for legal action, said ICT spokesperson Dr. Abdullah Tabasum.
Under the watchful eye of the AC, these day-to-day operations were aimed at reducing the presence of beggars in the capital. In a recent crackdown, AC Shalimar not only apprehended beggars but also ensured proper treatment of minor children involved in begging. These young people were sent to the Edhi center where emphasis was placed on a humane approach to dealing with the vulnerable population.
