Khaleej Times reports that the initiative to ban single-use Styrofoam is a continuation of Abu Dhabi’s single-plastic policy and supports the Year of Sustainability goals.
Abu Dhabi’s single-plastic policy was launched in May 2020. According to the policy, a ban on the sale of single-use plastic bags at all retailers came into effect from June 1, 2022, resulting in a 95 percent reduction from these bags.
