It has been revealed that the book, which was found outside a library in the UK, had been missing from the library for almost half a century.
Torrington Library, located in Devon County, England, posted on Facebook that a volunteer found the book “The Boy and the River” by author Henry Bosco outside the library.
The post thanked the person who left the book recently, although a bit late. The book was due to be returned on June 23, 1975, and was older than some of the library’s staff. It’s surprising where the book had been for the past 49 years.
Library supervisor Kate Cooper speculated that the book might have been left by someone concerned about late fees.
