KHANPUR: A tree plantation campaign has been launched at Nawaz Sharif City Park in Khanpur as part of efforts to improve the environment and expand urban greenery under the Clean and Green Punjab vision.
Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Afzal Sukhaira visited Nawaz Sharif City Park, where Park In-charge Muhammad Umar Farooq Aziz briefed him about the condition of different areas of the park, cleanliness arrangements, landscaping, green spaces and ongoing activities.
The Assistant Commissioner formally inaugurated the plantation campaign by planting a sapling at the park.
Speaking on the occasion, he said efforts were being made to promote a greener and healthier Punjab through practical environmental measures. He said tree plantation was important for reducing environmental pollution, improving the local environment and making urban areas more attractive and pleasant.
He directed the relevant staff to expand plantation activities in the park and ensure proper care of newly planted and existing trees.
The Assistant Commissioner also issued instructions for maintaining cleanliness, protecting green spaces and regularly monitoring the health and growth of plants.
The plantation campaign is expected to contribute to the expansion of green spaces in Khanpur while encouraging greater public awareness about the importance of trees and environmental protection.
