BAHAWALNAGAR: A wildlife team has arrested a suspected poacher during a late-night operation against the illegal hunting of nilgai in the border area of Fort Abbas tehsil.
According to wildlife officials, the team received information about illegal hunting activity in the area and reached the site, where one suspect was arrested.
A nilgai hide, rifle, knife and other hunting equipment were recovered from the arrested suspect. Six other people allegedly involved in the hunting activity managed to escape during the operation.
A case has been registered against all seven suspects, while further action is underway under the relevant wildlife laws.
The operation is part of continued efforts by the wildlife authorities in Bahawalnagar to control illegal hunting and protect wildlife in the region. Such enforcement is important for the conservation of native species and the protection of local ecosystems.
