LAHORE, September 16, 2026: Director General Punjab WASA Tayyab Farid chaired a strategic review meeting at the WASA Head Office to discuss institutional reforms aimed at strengthening the financial and operational sustainability of water and sanitation services.
The meeting was attended by directors and consultants, who reviewed key measures to improve revenue collection and develop long-term business plans for the agencies.
Discussions also focused on creating sustainable financial models that could help transform WASA agencies into more financially self-sufficient utility providers.
The proposed reforms are aimed at strengthening the ability of water and sanitation agencies to generate and manage resources while maintaining essential public services.
Long-term financial planning and stronger revenue systems can also support investment in water supply, wastewater management and other urban infrastructure, which are increasingly important as cities face growing pressure on water resources and environmental services.
The meeting reviewed the way forward for implementing institutional and financial reforms to build stronger and more sustainable urban water and sanitation systems across Punjab.
