GHOTKI, September 16, 2026: The Ghotki Forest Department has intensified night-time monitoring of forest areas to prevent illegal tree cutting and attempts to occupy forest land.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Ghotki Ziaullah Laghari conducted a surprise late-night visit to Mirpur Forest to inspect security and monitoring arrangements.
Block Officers Ghulam Sarwar Sheikh and Najeeb Ali Mahar, along with a team of police personnel, accompanied the DFO during the patrol.
The visit was aimed at strengthening surveillance during night hours and protecting valuable trees and forest resources from illegal activities.
During the inspection, DFO Ziaullah Laghari reiterated the Forest Department’s strict position against illegal tree cutting and encroachment on forest land. He also issued clear instructions to field staff to remain vigilant and take action against violations.
The DFO said the department has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards illegal tree cutting and encroachments. He directed officials to ensure legal action against anyone involved in such activities without discrimination, regardless of their influence or status.
The Forest Department, in coordination with local police, will continue night patrols and monitoring across the district to protect public forests and safeguard natural resources.
Stronger protection of forest land and trees is essential for conserving biodiversity, maintaining healthy ecosystems and protecting the environmental resources of Sindh.
