PESHAWAR, September 14, 2026: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department has issued a public awareness message reminding citizens that various animal parts and wildlife products may be classified as wildlife trophies and are subject to legal restrictions.
According to the department, wildlife trophies may include horns, antlers, teeth, tusks, bones, skulls, claws, skins, feathers, eggshells, rugs and taxidermy specimens, among other animal-derived items.
Under Section 13(1) of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife and Biodiversity (Protection, Preservation, Conservation and Management) Act, 2015, possession of specified wild animals, trophies or meat is prohibited unless the person holds a valid certificate or licence issued in accordance with the law.
The department warned that possessing, displaying, transporting or trading wildlife trophies without the required legal documentation or certificate may result in legal action.
The public has been advised to ensure that any wildlife-derived item in their possession is supported by valid legal documentation and to avoid purchasing or trading in wildlife trophies from unauthorised sources.
The awareness campaign aims to promote compliance with wildlife laws and discourage illegal trade and possession of wildlife products.
The Wildlife Department stressed that wildlife is an important part of the country’s natural heritage and called on citizens to play their role in protecting biodiversity and ensuring the conservation of wildlife for future generations.
