The Forest Department has intercepted a truck carrying Shisham timber in Kahuta, Rawalpindi, following a complaint about the suspected illegal transportation of forest produce.
Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Kahuta Muhammad Usman and field staff intercepted truck C-3688 after receiving information about the suspected timber movement. According to the department, the truck had reportedly been loaded with Shisham timber at Aari Saidain on the Kahuta-Pindi Road.
Truck and Timber Shifted to Sihala Depot
Following the interception, the truck and recovered timber were secured and transported to the Sihala Sale Depot. The Forest Department said legal proceedings would be initiated under the relevant forest laws and rules.
The action was carried out as part of field-level enforcement against the unauthorized transportation of forest produce. Illegal logging and timber trafficking can contribute to forest degradation and affect biodiversity and forest ecosystems.
Forest Officials Praised for Enforcement Action
The Rawalpindi North Forest Division praised ACF Muhammad Usman and the field staff for their efforts during the operation, highlighting the role of frontline officials in protecting forest resources.
The department said enforcement against violations of forest laws remains an important part of efforts to conserve Punjab’s forests and protect their ecological value.
