Chakwal Committee Reviews 11 Environmental Approval Cases

CHAKWAL: A meeting of the Committee of Experts was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Chakwal Sarah Hayat to review cases related to environmental approvals and renewals for various projects in the district.

The meeting examined a total of 11 cases concerning Environmental Approval/Renewal. After detailed consideration, the committee approved one case, decided to refer four cases to the Punjab Environmental Tribunal, while six cases were deferred for further consideration.

The cases were reviewed in accordance with applicable environmental requirements and regulatory procedures, with the committee considering the compliance status and relevant legal and environmental aspects of the projects.

Deputy Commissioner Sarah Hayat directed the concerned authorities to ensure complete compliance with all legal requirements, relevant rules and regulations, and environmental protection principles in matters relating to environmental approvals.

She stressed that environmental safeguards should remain an essential consideration during the assessment and approval of development and commercial projects.

The meeting reflected the district administration’s focus on ensuring that development activities are undertaken in accordance with environmental regulations and do not compromise environmental protection.

The committee’s review of approval and renewal cases is part of the regulatory process aimed at ensuring compliance with environmental standards and strengthening environmental governance at the district level.
