RAWALPINDI: The district administration has announced a general holiday for all educational institutions across Rawalpindi district amid heavy rainfall and a continued rise in water levels in Nullah Lai.
According to the notification, all educational institutions within the territorial limits of Rawalpindi will remain closed today as a precautionary measure to protect students and citizens from potential risks arising from the prevailing weather conditions.
The administration has urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel and follow official safety instructions.
Citizens have particularly been advised to stay away from low-lying areas, storm-water channels, rivers, streams and waterlogged locations during the ongoing rainfall.
People have also been warned against swimming or bathing in streams and other water bodies. Parents have been urged to keep a close watch on children and prevent them from playing near drains, waterways or flooded areas.
The administration further advised residents to avoid non-essential travel during heavy rain and immediately follow instructions issued by the district authorities in case of an emergency.
Officials emphasized that precautionary measures are essential as continued rainfall can increase the risk of urban flooding and dangerous water flows, particularly around Nullah Lai and other vulnerable areas.
Residents are urged to prioritize safety and remain alert until weather conditions improve.
