RAJANPUR: The Forest Department Rajanpur has launched a major crackdown against illegal sawmills as part of efforts to enforce regulations governing sawmill operations and protect forests from illegal logging and damage.
During the enforcement operation, officials took several illegal sawmills into custody and sealed machinery and other equipment found in violation of the applicable regulations. Cases have also been registered against the individuals concerned.
The operation was led by Assistant Conservator of Forests Rajanpur Mujeeb ur Rehman, with a large contingent of forest rangers and police personnel participating in the action.
According to the department, the enforcement campaign is aimed at ensuring that sawmills comply with registration requirements, particularly restrictions relating to operations within prohibited areas.
Officials said strict action against illegal sawmills is necessary to prevent the unlawful cutting, transportation and processing of timber and to safeguard the province’s valuable forest resources.
The Forest Department reiterated that enforcement operations will continue against those violating forest laws and regulations, with further action to be taken against illegal sawmill operators.
