MALAKAND, August 26: A Monsoon Tree Plantation Drive 2026 was organized at Government High School Maina to promote environmental awareness and encourage community participation in plantation activities.
The campaign was organized by Utmankhel Falahi Tanzeem Maina in collaboration with the District Youth Office Malakand and District Administration Malakand, under the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Malakand Fayaz Khan Sherpao and Director, Directorate of Youth Affairs Peshawar Abbas Khan Afridi.
During the plantation drive, more than 86 fruit and other locally suitable trees were planted at different locations. The planted species included guava, lemon, orange, peach, apricot and loquat, along with other local varieties.
More than 95 students, volunteers and faculty members actively participated in the campaign, demonstrating their commitment to environmental protection and a greener future.
The participants emphasized that plantation alone is not enough and that newly planted trees must be properly protected and cared for to ensure their survival.
The event concluded with a collective Dua and a message encouraging every individual to plant and care for at least one tree as a practical contribution towards a greener and healthier Pakistan.
The initiative highlighted the importance of engaging students and young people in environmental activities and strengthening community ownership of climate and environmental protection efforts.
“Let’s plant today for a greener tomorrow” remained the central message of the campaign, with participants expressing their resolve to contribute to a greener Malakand and a more environmentally resilient Pakistan.
