ISLAMABAD: Five visitors who went missing while hiking in the Margalla Hills have been safely rescued following a joint operation by the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB), Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Islamabad Police.
Following the incident, authorities issued a safety advisory urging hikers and tourists to take precautions and strictly follow designated trails while visiting the Margalla Hills.
The IWMB advised visitors to remain on familiar and marked hiking trails and avoid using the trails after sunset. Hikers have also been urged to stay together in groups and avoid isolated or unfamiliar routes.
Visitors should ensure their mobile phones are fully charged before beginning a hike and share their live location with a trusted person. Authorities also recommended consulting the security guard stationed at the trail entrance about current trail conditions and safety concerns.
The advisory further encourages hikers to wear suitable footwear and carry enough drinking water, particularly during warm and humid weather.
Authorities strongly discouraged visitors from entering unmarked, secluded or potentially dangerous areas of the Margalla Hills.
The IWMB emphasized that responsible tourism and compliance with safety guidelines are important not only for protecting visitors but also for preserving the natural environment and wildlife of Margalla Hills National Park.
Visitors have been urged to remain alert, explore responsibly and prioritize their safety throughout their time on the trails.
