ALPURI: The Forest Department has seized 138.50 cubic feet of illegally cut Kail timber during an enforcement operation in Safargo Compartments 13 and 14 of the Alpuri Block, officials said.
The operation was carried out on August 19, 2026, following credible intelligence regarding the illegal cutting of Kail trees in the area.
Acting promptly on the information, the Sub-Divisional Forest Officer (SDFO), Alpuri, along with field staff, reached the site and launched an enforcement operation.
During the action, the forest team recovered 50 scantlings of Kail timber, with a total volume of 138.50 cubic feet.
The seized timber was transported to the Alpuri Forest Division Go-down, where it was deposited for safe custody.
According to the Forest Department, a Damage Report is being prepared, while legal proceedings have already been initiated against the alleged offenders under the relevant provisions of the Forest Ordinance, 2002.
The timely intervention highlights the department’s continued efforts to curb illegal logging and protect valuable forest resources in the province.
Officials said enforcement operations would continue against individuals involved in the illegal cutting and transportation of timber, stressing that attempts to damage or exploit forest resources would be dealt with under the law.
The action also underscores the importance of intelligence-based field monitoring in protecting forest ecosystems and conserving the province’s valuable green cover.
