ISLAMABAD, Aug. 3: A weekly hiking activity at Trail 5 in the Margalla Hills National Park was transformed into a meaningful tree plantation and environmental conservation campaign after organizers secured the necessary permissions from the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB), and the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad.
The initiative brought together environmental enthusiasts, volunteers, and international guests in a collective effort to enhance the green cover of the Margalla Hills and promote environmental stewardship during the ongoing monsoon plantation season.
The organizers expressed their gratitude to Deputy Mayor Islamabad, Mr. Zeeshan Naqvi, the visiting delegation from South Korea, the CDA, the IWMB, and Ms. Rahat, whose support and coordination helped make the plantation drive a success.
Participants highlighted that tree plantation is one of the most effective ways to combat climate change, conserve biodiversity, improve air quality, and protect the fragile ecosystem of the Margalla Hills. They emphasized that community participation is essential to building a sustainable and climate-resilient future.
The organizers urged citizens to take advantage of the monsoon season by planting more trees and contributing to national efforts aimed at creating a greener, healthier, and more environmentally resilient Pakistan.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment from participants to continue supporting conservation initiatives and encourage greater public involvement in protecting the country’s natural heritage.
