Rawalpindi: PMAS-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi has launched a new initiative to strengthen alumni engagement, improve graduate networking, and expand connections with former students in Pakistan and abroad.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman at the university in Rawalpindi. The meeting was attended by the Director Financial Assistance, Director Quality Enhancement, and representatives from the university’s faculties, institutes, departments, and administrative units.
University officials discussed measures aimed at reviving alumni relations and creating a more structured system for maintaining contact with graduates. According to the university, the initiative is intended to support institutional development, student mentorship, and professional collaboration between current students and former graduates.
During the meeting, participants agreed that each department and institute would appoint a focal person responsible for alumni engagement and communication. These representatives will also help facilitate the creation of an Alumni Scholarship and Student Support Fund.
The university also directed departments to update their alumni databases and organize annual alumni-focused events, including dinners, reunions, seminars, and networking sessions. Officials said these activities will provide opportunities for graduates to share professional experiences, mentor students, and strengthen ties with the institution.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman emphasized the importance of alumni as representatives of the university and called for stronger, long-term engagement with graduates across different regions and professional sectors.
The university is also seeking to increase outreach to graduates living overseas. Departmental focal persons have been instructed to identify international alumni and support the formation of alumni groups and chapters in various countries.
University officials said these international networks could help enhance PMAS-Arid Agriculture University’s global presence while promoting academic, research, and professional collaboration among alumni and the institution.
To improve communication, the Vice Chancellor directed the Director Financial Assistance and relevant departments to strengthen engagement through updated databases, digital platforms, newsletters, and social media channels.
Participants reaffirmed their commitment to building an active alumni community that can contribute to student support initiatives, institutional growth, and broader educational development.
