Islamabad Diagnostic Center (IDC) has been awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority in recognition of its exemplary performance in radiation safety and strict adherence to regulatory standards.
According to a statement, the recognition makes IDC the first diagnostic institution in Pakistan to receive such an award from the nuclear regulator. The certificate was received by Professor Dr Rizwan Uppal, Founder Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Islamabad Diagnostic Center.

PNRA acknowledged IDC’s sustained commitment to patient safety, the protection of medical staff and operators, and the effective implementation of national radiation laws and regulations. Regulatory authorities noted that diagnostic equipment such as X-ray, CT scan, CBCT, mammography and OPG machines emit ionising radiation, making compliance with safety protocols essential for both patients and healthcare professionals.
Officials said PNRA provides comprehensive rules and guidelines to diagnostic institutions and conducts regular inspections to ensure compliance. At IDC, radiation safety is described as a continuous institutional practice rather than a procedural requirement, with PNRA teams carrying out routine on-site and periodic inspections of its facilities.
The award reflects PNRA’s assessment that IDC is implementing radiation safety regulations with full compliance. As part of its safety framework, IDC has installed advanced digital X-ray systems across its branches, which emit significantly lower radiation than conventional X-ray machines, enhancing patient protection.
IDC also operates one of the largest radiology networks in the country, with the highest number of MRI and CT scan machines among diagnostic institutions in Pakistan. Its services include modern MRI, multi-slice CT scans, digital X-ray, ultrasound, mammography and dental imaging, all operated under PNRA-approved safety standards.
Currently, the centre provides radiology and laboratory diagnostic services through more than 160 facilities in over 60 cities nationwide. PNRA officials said the recognition underscores IDC’s role as a benchmark institution for safe, reliable and regulation-compliant diagnostic services, contributing to improved standards in Pakistan’s healthcare sector.
