Dubai: Pakistan has sought expanded institutional access and faster recruitment mechanisms for its workforce during labour-sector discussions with Kuwait held on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Dialogue 2026 in Dubai, officials said on Monday.
The discussions took place between Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, and Rabab Abdullah Al-Osaimi, Director-General of Kuwait’s Public Authority for Manpower (PAM). The meeting focused on strengthening recruitment cooperation and formalising labour arrangements between Pakistan and Kuwait.
During the talks, the Pakistani minister reiterated Islamabad’s readiness to sign a proposed Labour Memorandum of Understanding with Kuwait, saying the agreement could be finalised during the anticipated visit of the Kuwaiti Crown Prince to Pakistan.
Officials also reviewed recent high-level engagements and discussed steps to broaden labour cooperation. Pakistan requested access to the PAM online portal for Pakistani workers and overseas employment promoters, aiming to streamline recruitment and improve transparency in hiring processes.
Highlighting Pakistan’s workforce contribution, the minister said Pakistani workers have played an important role in Kuwait’s economic development and continue to offer skills suited to key sectors, including infrastructure.
Both sides agreed to strengthen labour coordination through regular consultations and institutional engagement. The Pakistani delegation also extended an invitation to Kuwaiti officials to visit Pakistan for further discussions.
