Pakistan envoy discusses trade and investment with Pakistan Business Council Dubai

Pakistan ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan meets Pakistan Business Council Dubai delegation

DUBAI, Jan 20, 2026: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Shafqat Ali Khan, held a meeting with representatives of the Pakistan Business Council Dubai at the Consulate General of Pakistan, focusing on ways to further enhance trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Pakistan and the UAE.

The Pakistan Business Council delegation was led by its Chairman, Muhammad Shabbir Merchant, and included members of the council’s management committee. Ali Zeb Khan, Trade and Investment Counsellor, along with other officials of the Consulate General, also attended the meeting.

During the discussion, the ambassador acknowledged the Pakistan Business Council’s role in supporting the Pakistani business community and strengthening commercial ties between the two countries. He reiterated the Embassy’s and Consulate’s commitment to facilitating PBC-led initiatives aimed at improving market access and addressing challenges faced by Pakistani entrepreneurs operating in the UAE.

Emphasising the long-standing and brotherly relations between Pakistan and the UAE, Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan noted that closer collaboration in trade and investment could further deepen bilateral ties. He encouraged the council to assist new Pakistani businesses by providing guidance on regulatory requirements, compliance standards, and emerging market trends in the UAE.

Briefing the ambassador, PBC Chairman Muhammad Shabbir Merchant outlined the council’s ongoing efforts in advocacy, networking, and capacity building to strengthen the footprint of Pakistani businesses in the UAE. He said the council remains committed to creating opportunities that support sustainable growth for Pakistani investors and professionals.

Officials said the engagement reflected a shared resolve to promote stronger economic linkages and enhance cooperation between Pakistan and the UAE, particularly through close coordination with the overseas Pakistani business community.
