Pakistan–US joint counter-terrorism exercise Inspired Gambit–2026 begins

RAWALPINDI: The 13th Pakistan–United States bilateral joint military exercise, Inspired Gambit–2026, commenced on January 9 at the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) in Pabbi, according to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations.

The two-week exercise is being conducted in the counter-terrorism domain and involves professional contingents from the Pakistan Army and the United States Army. Officials from both countries attended the opening ceremony.

Focus on interoperability and counter-terrorism skills

ISPR said the exercise aims to enhance mutual understanding and interoperability between the two forces through the sharing of counter-terrorism experiences. The training is designed to further refine tactics, techniques, and procedures required for effective operations in complex security environments.

Special emphasis is being placed on marksmanship skills in urban warfare settings, as well as on familiarization with each other’s operational doctrines and best practices.

Strengthening professional military cooperation

According to officials, such joint training exercises are important for addressing evolving security challenges, improving professional military standards, and strengthening the capacity of both armies to operate together during counter-terrorism missions.

ISPR said the exercise reflects the continued commitment of Pakistan and the United States toward collaborative efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability.
