Rahim Yar Khan (Abu Hurara Alvi): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday met Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, at Sheikh Zayed Palace in Rahim Yar Khan, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.

The meeting followed the UAE president’s official visit to Pakistan earlier this month and was part of continued bilateral engagements between the two sides.

Shehbaz Sharif, UAE president review bilateral cooperation

During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed progress on discussions held in Islamabad on December 26, when Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed visited Pakistan in his capacity as president of the UAE.

According to officials, the talks focused on expanding cooperation in economic and strategic sectors, including trade, information technology, energy, mining and minerals, and defence-related collaboration.

Focus on trade and sectoral engagement

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasised the need to increase bilateral trade volumes and discussed steps to strengthen economic engagement between Pakistan and the UAE. Both sides exchanged views on enhancing collaboration across priority sectors identified by the two governments.

The prime minister was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, and other senior officials.

Regional and broader issues discussed

In addition to bilateral matters, the leaders also exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual interest.

Officials said the meeting marked the conclusion of a year of frequent leadership-level interactions between Pakistan and the UAE.
