RAWALPINDI: The Forest Department has intercepted a truck carrying Shisham timber in Kahuta following a complaint regarding the illegal transportation of forest produce.
Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Kahuta Muhammad Usman, along with field staff, conducted the enforcement operation and intercepted truck C-3688 after receiving information about the suspected illegal timber transportation.
According to the Forest Department, the vehicle had reportedly been loaded with Shisham timber at Aari Saidain on the Kahuta-Pindi Road.
The truck and the recovered timber have been secured and shifted to the Sihala Sale Depot, where further legal proceedings will be initiated under the relevant forest laws and rules.
The operation highlights the importance of field-level enforcement and timely action in combating illegal timber transportation, which can contribute to forest degradation and biodiversity loss.
The Rawalpindi North Forest Division praised ACF Muhammad Usman for his efforts and courage during the operation, acknowledging the role of frontline forest officials in protecting forest resources.
