Demand for Weight Loss Drug Ozempic Sees Significant Surge

New data reveals that prescriptions for Ozempic, a drug used for diabetes management and weight loss, are being issued in greater numbers than ever before.

Ozempic helps the body produce more insulin, reduces sugar levels, and slows down digestion.

Early last year, due to a supply shortage of Ozempic, the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) introduced tirzepatide—commonly known as Mounjaro—as an alternative for diabetic patients.

According to NHS Open Prescribing Service data, Ozempic was prescribed an average of 489 times per month from November last year, compared to 226 prescriptions in the previous year, marking a significant increase.
