Karachi: UAE Consul General Bakheet Ateeq Al Remeithi stated that Pakistan has an excellent mango crop, which can achieve higher value and expanded business through value addition. Speaking at the Future Summit in Karachi, Al Remeithi noted that when investors come to the UAE, they are provided with facilitation, whereas in Pakistan, investors often face issues like visa problems and additional costs. It is important to offer maximum ease to investors wherever possible.
The UAE Consul General highlighted that Pakistan’s mango crop is one of the best, with high demand in Dubai. Through value addition, the price and scope of its business can be significantly enhanced. A Pakistani mango, initially priced at $10, is sold for $120 in Dubai after repackaging, underscoring the need for value addition in Pakistan’s agriculture sector. He emphasized that this effort requires collective work, not just from the government. When people travel from Pakistan to Dubai, they often bring Pakistani mangoes as gifts for their families, showing the mango’s popularity. The food security sector in the region is ranked top.
He further mentioned that the UAE has shifted its focus from politics to the economy, advising Pakistani investors to approach the relevant ministry in the UAE, who will then reach out directly.
