KAMALIA, Aug. 5: The district administration in Kamalia launched a joint enforcement operation against an illegal tyre-burning factory, taking strict action to curb environmental pollution and protect public health.
The operation was led by Assistant Commissioner Iram Shehzadi in collaboration with the Deputy Director of the Environment Protection Department.
During the raid, authorities disconnected all electricity connections to the factory and demolished an under-construction production unit on the spot. Officials also confiscated electric motors, machinery, and other equipment being used in the illegal operation.
Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Commissioner Iram Shehzadi said that burning tyres releases highly toxic smoke that poses serious risks to human health and the environment. She emphasized that the district administration would continue taking indiscriminate action against activities contributing to air pollution.
She said the Punjab government is committed to the strict enforcement of environmental laws and regulations, adding that no leniency would be shown to individuals or businesses involved in practices that harm air quality and public health.
The Assistant Commissioner reiterated that providing citizens with a clean, safe, and healthy environment remains one of the administration’s top priorities. She warned that legal action against environmental law violators would continue without interruption to ensure compliance with environmental protection standards.
The operation forms part of the Punjab government’s broader efforts to combat air pollution, improve environmental quality, and safeguard public health through stricter enforcement of environmental regulations.
