Meta-owned messaging app WhatsApp is working to improve its channels in a future update as an optional feature to add a verification badge is being developed, WABetaInfo reported.
This feature is being built for WhatsApp on Android, which will allow business accounts to have a verified badge on their channels.
According to the WhatsApp message tracker, businesses will be able to activate the badge for their channels by subscribing to Meta Verified.
As shown in this screenshot, WhatsApp will soon have a new screen for business accounts with the option to add a verified badge to your channels.
It may be noted that an exclusive option for businesses to subscribe to Meta Verified will be available in the future, providing them with a verification badge for their profile and other benefits.
However, the verified badge option will not be extended to individual users and non-business accounts.
According to WABetaInfo, the decision to allow businesses to add a verified badge to their channels through the Meta Verified subscription is a strategically important step designed to increase business visibility.

This capability will help businesses increase their credibility and make them easier to find on the platform.
