RAWALPINDI, Aug. 4: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi has intensified its anti-dengue campaign across the city in line with the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, as part of efforts to prevent the spread of dengue during the ongoing monsoon season.
Preventive measures are being carried out at WASA’s field offices, tube wells, and other operational facilities to eliminate mosquito breeding sites and reduce the risk of dengue transmission.
Managing Director WASA Rawalpindi, Azizullah Khan, urged citizens to immediately report any locations where rainwater or stagnant water has accumulated so that timely action can be taken by WASA teams.
He emphasized that public cooperation is essential in preventing dengue outbreaks, particularly during the rainy season when stagnant water creates ideal breeding conditions for mosquitoes.
The MD said WASA remains committed to maintaining a clean and safe environment through continuous monitoring, prompt drainage of standing water, and coordinated preventive measures.
He also appealed to residents to keep their surroundings clean, avoid water accumulation in homes and public spaces, and actively support the agency’s anti-dengue efforts.
“A clean environment means a safer life. Dengue prevention is a shared responsibility,” he said, encouraging citizens to work together with public authorities to protect community health.
